Children’s Choir
Children’s Choir
The Krakow Opera Children’s Choir was founded in September 2008 by Marek and Beata Kluza. It is composed of boys and girls aged between 9 and 13. In total it is nearly 40 people strong. The majority of children attend music schools. Rehearsals are held at the Krakow Opera twice a week. The group prepares for performances which involve a children’s choir part. It participates in such Krakow Opera productions as Bizet’s Carmen, Puccini’s Tosca and La bohème, and Tchaikovsky’s The Nutcracker.
The Children’s Choir has also taken part in numerous concerts and shows. These included Moniuszko’s Halka, Boito’s Mefistofele, Mozart’s Coronation Mass, Orff’s Carmina Burana, Ullman’s The Emperor of Atlantis, Humperdinck’s Hansel and Gretel, Schiller’s and Maklakiewicz’s Pastorale, and Polish Christmas carol concerts. In 2013, the choir was invited to the Closing Concert of the Gospel City music workshops, where it accompanied the Joyful Voice choir.
One of the Polish Christmas carol concerts (My też pastuszkowie), which took place in 2017 at the Saint Kinga of Poland’s Chapel at the Wieliczka Salt Mine, was recorded and released on DVD.
