Marta Abako

She started her musical education at the State Elementary Music School in the piano class. Her voice training started with Professor K. Goławska at the Higher School of Music in Warsaw and continued in the class of Professor A. Szybowski at the Academy of Music in Krakow, where she earned her university diploma. She developed her vocal skills, among others, with Professor H.L. Kuhse, Professor A. Reynolds, A. Arkchipova and V. de Los Angeles; however, she reached the stage of vocal maturity while working with Professor K. Gański from California.
 
Since 1992, she has been a soloist at the Kraków Opera. Together with the Opera Ensemble, she has sung in Germany, Denmark, the Netherlands, France, Switzerland and England. In the seasons of 1995-96, she appeared at the Grand Theatre in Łódź. During the same season, she made her début on the stage of the National Opera, playing the role of Carmen. She sung the part of Octavian in “The Knight of the Rose” (Richard Strauss), conducted by the excellent Jacek Kasprzyk. The spectacle was directed by the world-famous Pier Luigi Pizzi. In February of 1999, the artist participated in the spectacle of the Krakow Opera “I Capuleti e i Montecchi” (Vincenzo Bellini), prepared and led by a renowned Italian bel canto signer, Richard Bonyng, and she sung the role of Romeo. In the season of 1999-2000, Marta Abako made her début in the soprano part of Mimi in “La Boheme” (Giacomo Puccini) directed by Michael Heiniche. During the same season, she made her operetta début, singing the part of Julia in „The Cousin from Nowhere” (Eduard Künneke). Other soprano parts sung by the artist in the season of 2001 included Nedda in “Pagliacci” (Ruggero Leoncavallo), Lola in “Cavaleria rusticana” (Pietro Mascagni); at the end of the season, she made her début as Micaela in “Carmen” (Georges Bizet) and as Pamina in "The Magic Flute” (Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart). The season of 2001 also brought her a début at the Jan Kiepura Festival in Krynica and commencement of collaboration with Bogusław Kaczyński, which soon resulted in numerous concerts in Poland, as well as Canada. In the season of 2002, she made her operetta débuts, which resulted from collaboration with the Musical Theatre in Lublin: Maritza in “Countess Maritza” (Imre Kálmán) and Saffi in “The Gypsy Baron” (Johann Strauss). In recognition of her vocal and interpretation skills, the artist received the Golden Medal - the annual state award in the field of culture, awarded by the International Cultural Centre “Foyer des Artist” at the La Sapienza University in Rome. In October of the same year, the artist was invited to participate in the concert organised at the Ministry of the Interior in Rome, hosted by “Teatro Dell Opera di Roma”.
