Iwona Socha

She started her musical education at the State Music School in Gliwice. She is a graduate of the Faculty of Voice and Drama at the Karol Szymanowski Academy of Music in Katowice, where she was in the solo singing class of Professor Jan Ballarin (graduating with distinction). In 2002, she graduated from the Faculty of Radio and Television of the Krzysztof Kieślowski Silesian University in Katowice. She is a finalist and a laureate of domestic and international vocal competitions.

During many years of her artistic activity, she has collaborated with many conductors: Bassem Akiki, Mirosław Jacek Błaszczyk, Jacek Boniecki, Łukasz Borowicz, Kai Bumann, Massimiliano Caldi, Gabriel Chmura, Jakub Chrenowicz, Sławomir Chrzanowski, Krzesimir Dębski, Maciej Figas, Jan Wincenty Hawel, Jari Hämäläinen, Jacek Kaspszyki, Kazimierz Kord, Jerzy Kosek, Tadeusz Kozłowski, Jerzy Maksymiuk, Marcin Nałęcz-Niesiołowski, Jiří Petrdlík, Vladimir Ponkin, Paweł Przytocki, Jerzy Salwarowski, Ruben Silva, Andrzej Straszyński, Piotr Sułkowski, Tomasz Tokarczyk, Piotr Wajrak, Józef Wiłkomirski, Tadeusz Wojciechowski, Yevgeni Volynski, as well as renowned directors, such as: Laco Adamik, Henryk Baranowski, Giorgio Madia, Maria Meszaros, Włodzimierz Nurkowski, Wiesław Ochman, Mariusz Treliński, Waldemar Zawodziński, Michał Znaniecki.

In May 2005, as a last year’s student, she made her début on the stage of the Silesian Opera, singing the part of Margaret in "Faust” by Charles Gounod (a spectacle included on the list of productions to commemorate the 60th anniversary of the Silesian Opera), with Maestro Bogdan Paprocki appearing as a guest.

Her repertoire includes numerous oratorios, opera and operetta roles, as well as vocal lyrics works. She gives concerts in Poland and abroad: in Austria, Belgium, the Czech Republic, France, Spain, the Netherlands, Lithuania, Slovakia and the United Arab Emirates. She has also made recordings for the Polish Radio, the Polish Television and the DUX Phonographic Company.

She has participated in many Master Level Vocal Courses, managed - among others - by Izabela Kłosińska, Ingrid Kremling, Adam Kruszewski, Peter Mura, Jadwiga Romańska, Jolanta Żmurko and Teresa Żylis-Gara. In March of 2016, she commenced individual vocal cooperation in Vienna with Ileana Cotrubas.

During her work on stage, she has met outstanding singers, such as: Mariusz Kwiecień, Artur Ruciński, Małgorzata Walewska, and she cooperates with leading piano players: Krzysztof Jabłoński, Paweł Kamasa, Bartłomiej Kominek, Robert Morawski, and with chamber musicians: Klaudiusz Baran, Tomasz Strahlem, Janusz Wawrowski.

On a regular basis, she performs together with numerous domestic philharmonic and chamber orchestras in Poland, including the National Orchestra of the Polish Radio in Katowice, the Polish Radio Orchestra in Warsaw, as well as Sinfonia Iuventus. She cooperates with leading opera and operetta centres: The Grand Theatre - the National Opera in Warsaw, the Wrocław Opera, the Grand Theatre in Łódź, the Nova Opera in Bydgoszcz, the Silesian Opera in Bytom, as well as the Mazovian Operetta Musical Theatre in Warsaw.

She has participated in many music festivals, including: The 7th International Festival Operete Kauno Pilyje (Lithuania), the Saint Maxime la Sainte Baume Festival (France), the Opera Festival in Bydgoszcz, the International Festival of Organ Music in Gliwice, the “Viva il canto” Festival in Cieszyn, the 52nd Musical Festival in Łańcut, the Bravo maestro Festival in Kąśna-Dolna, the K. Jamroz 18th International Music Festival in Busko-Zdrój, the 10th Anniversary Festival of Known and Unknown Music in Sosnowiec, the Jan Kiepura European Festival in Krynica-Zdrój, the Oratorial Festival Musica Sacromontana, as well as the prestigious Wawel Castle Concerts as part of the Summer Opera Festival of the Krakow Opera.

In 2013, she received the prestigious laurel for the Best Opera Singer as one of the Jan Kiepura Musical Theatre Prizes.

In April 2016, she received the Phoenix Prize of Catholic Publishers for a CD with the mass by Józef Zeidler - Misaa Pstorita, recorded with the Sinfonia Iuventus orchestra, conducted by Paweł Przytocki.
