description
The concept of choreographer Valentina Turcu remains faithful to Shakespeare’s tragedy and offers a vision of a bold, sensual and brutal era in which questions of life and death are often decided irrationally and in emotional fury. The ballet production portrays a portrait of eternal love sacrificed in a hostile environment and destructive relationships.

The creative approach reflects the iconography of Renaissance painting and architecture, while also incorporating the contemporary relevance of humanity’s timeless desire for love. The “hunger” for life and new experiences born of love — sensuality, cruelty and passion — lies at the heart of the unresolved dramatic conflict that leads to the tragic fate of two young idealists.

Juliet’s acceptance of the inevitable fatal end is presented as an inner journey through the deepest and darkest realms of the soul, as she binds herself to Truth and Love and ultimately unites with the Sublime.
